How pricing works

When you join a group, you pay one thing: your share. Your share is the total cost of testing that group's compound, divided fairly across everyone in the group. It's calculated automatically and updates live as people join, as vial donors get credited, and as shipping costs are added — so the number you see is the real number, not a guess.

What your share covers

Your per-person price bundles together the lab's testing fee, the platform's coordination of the whole process (organizing the group, communicating with the laboratory, and moving the group through each phase), secure payment processing through Stripe, and permanent hosting of your results so you can open the Certificate of Analysis from your dashboard whenever you want. In short, everything it takes to get a sample tested and the results back to you is inside your share — except shipping.

What your share does not cover

Shipping is arranged and paid for by the group's members themselves. Whoever donates or forwards a physical vial covers the postage to get it to the lab (or to the group's Shipper). The platform never handles the compound and does not bill for postage, so shipping stays outside your share by design.

The two small non-refundable fees

  • $5 join deposit — paid when you join a Managed group during its open / recruiting phase. It is credited toward your final share — not an extra charge if you stay in. If you back out of the group after putting it down, the $5 deposit is non-refundable.
  • $5 group-creation fee — a one-time, non-refundable launch deposit paid by the Creator via Stripe to launch an Independent group. It's the only payment Group Test Hub collects on an Independent group.

Vial donors get credited

If you donate a physical vial to the group, the Manager assigns it a dollar value, and that value becomes a credit against your own share. Donating product toward the test lowers what you owe in cash — your contribution is recognized in the math, not just in goodwill.

Late joiners and store credit

Once a group is fully funded, anyone who wants in afterward joins as a late joiner and pays the full share — no discount for arriving after the work was organized. Here's the upside for the people who were there first: 100% of every late-joiner payment is redistributed as store credit to the group's original members, split equally. That store credit can be spent on future groups and tests. Late-join payments are never refundable, in any group type.

Cancellations and refunds

A member can request that a group be cancelled. A Group Test Hub admin reviews the request and either approves it — in which case refunds and any store credit are issued according to the refund policy — or rejects it. Two things are never refunded under any circumstances: the $5 Independent launch deposit and any late-join payment. For the complete, governing terms, see the Terms of Service.
